Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Up to £40,831.30 per annum (inclusive of sleep-in shifts and on-call payments)
Specific Hours: 39 hours per week
Accountable to: Registered Manager and the Responsible Individuals and Operational Directors

We are excited to invite a dedicated Deputy Manager to join our established 4-bed home in Barnsley!
Main Purpose of the Job
As our Deputy Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Registered Manager with the day-to-day operations of the home. Your focus will be on ensuring high-quality care and promoting each young person's rights, wellbeing, and individual needs in line with our organizational policies. You will lead and guide our staff team, ensuring that our practices meet all legislative, safeguarding, and regulatory standards.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Service and Practice Management:
o Ensure high-quality care across both homes, promoting equality and anti-discriminatory practices.
o Maintain compliance with Health and Safety legislation and ensure staff are well-trained.
o Support accurate record-keeping and contribute to monitoring and quality assurance systems.
o Promote effective childcare practices and implement continuous improvement strategies.
o Prepare for and attend internal and external meetings, chairing when necessary.
o Participate in the on-call rota and provide sleep-in cover as required.
o Produce clear, evaluative reports to maintain regulatory standards.
o Take operational decision-making responsibility in the absence of the Registered Manager.
* Human Resource Management:
o Support recruitment efforts, ensuring all safer recruitment checks are completed.
o Assist in staff induction, supervision, and appraisal processes.
o Ensure staff development through mandatory training and CPD requirements.
o Help maintain effective rotas and oversee staff expenses.
o Conduct investigations into complaints and disciplinary matters as per policy.
* Management of Resources & External Relations:
o Support budget monitoring and financial processes to ensure effective resource use.
o Report and follow up on maintenance issues to keep homes safe and compliant.
o Represent the organization positively in all external contacts.
o Liaise with commissioners and the referrals team regarding placements and admissions.
Required Attributes
* Commitment to delivering high-quality care and education.
* Experience in leading or managing a team.
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
* Level 3 Children & Young People qualification (minimum).
* Level 5 Leadership & Management, or willingness to complete.
* Understanding of the needs of vulnerable young people.
* Ability to build effective relationships with young people, colleagues, and external agencies.
* Emotional resilience when working with challenging behavior.

* Full UK driving licence and access to transport.
* Flexible, reliable, and eager to contribute to organizational development.
