About The Role
We are seeking an ambitious and creative researcher for the position of Research Associate in applied mathematics, with a focus on Earth’s Tipping Points. This role is funded by a European Space Agency project involving three UK partners.
The project explores climate variability and tipping points, aiming to develop accurate early warning indicators for detecting proximity to tipping behavior in climate models and observational data.
You will be part of a world-class, rapidly growing research environment, collaborating with academic partners in the UK and abroad. Responsibilities include supporting graduate students, presenting scientific results at international conferences, and contributing to reports and publications. Teaching activities are encouraged.
About You
Applicants should hold a PhD in mathematics, physics, earth sciences, or a related discipline. A strong background in mathematical modeling and data analysis for complex systems is essential. Experience with climate and ecosystem dynamics, large datasets, and interdisciplinary research is preferred.
You should demonstrate excellent communication skills, a commitment to professional development, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet project milestones.
