Assistant Buyer | Salary up to £38,000
South Yorkshire | Full-Time, Permanent
I’m currently recruiting for an Assistant Buyer to join a fast-growing UK retailer. This is a great opportunity for a commercially minded, detail-focused individual looking to develop their buying career within a dynamic, multi-channel retail environment.
Key responsibilities:
• Supporting the buying team to drive sales and profitability
• Negotiating cost prices with suppliers to secure best value
• Sourcing products from UK and European suppliers and wholesalers
• Managing smaller supplier accounts and building strong relationships
• Monitoring market trends, competitor activity and pricing
• Supporting stock management, supply chain coordination and inventory levels
• Analysing sales performance and product profitability
• Providing administrative support across purchasing and procurement processes
What they’re looking for:
• Previous experience in buying, procurement or a commercial role (preferred)
• Strong negotiation and commercial awareness
• Analytical mindset with good Excel skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management ability
• Highly organised with a proactive approach
• Experience sourcing products or working with UK/EU suppliers advantageous
