Location: Barking Community Hospital, Upney Lane, Barking, Essex, IG11 9LX.
Salary: £109,725 - £145,478 per annum (Pro‑rata).
Contract: Substantive, Full‑time (10 programmed activities with 7.5 direct clinical contact activities and 2.5 supporting professional activities).
On‑call: Frequency 1:50; Category A – 3% on‑call supplement.
Job Summary
We are recruiting an Adult Consultant Psychiatrist for the North Mental Health & Wellness Team based at Barking Community Hospital. The post holder will work alongside a multidisciplinary team to provide care to adults with mental health needs across Northern Barking and Dagenham.
Main Duties of the Job
* Provide senior medical support and guidance to the team.
* Work directly with adults and their families, liaising with external adult mental health providers and acute hospitals.
* Participate in the on‑call rota (frequency 1:50, 3% of basic salary, Category A on‑call supplement).
* Support peers and the team leader, becoming an effective team member while encouraging initiative.
* Collaborate with other Adult Consultant Psychiatrists, specialty doctors, and trainees within the service.
* Actively support and liaise with health and social professionals and agencies.
Person Specification – Registration & Qualifications
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practice.
* CCT or equivalent.
* Section 12 approval or eligibility for it.
* Approved clinician status, or eligibility for it.
* Inclusion in or eligibility for inclusion in the Specialist Register, or within 6 months of obtaining CCST.
