Rolls-Royce are developing manufacturing methods, processes and materials for their composite components.We are currently going through an exciting phase of growth as we deliver composite components and manufacturing programmes across a range of products for Civil Aerospace and Defence divisions.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to work as part of our Engineering, Technology and Safety business. This work will involve the development and implementation of analysis methods for a range of composite components. The role will be based on the Filton site and working closely with other parts of the business.

This role will give the chosen applicant an opportunity to develop within Rolls-Royce manufacturing function and enable them to influence the creation and delivery of the next generation engines. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering results across a cross-functional team from Design Engineers, Technical specialist through to Operations and Quality.

What you will be doing
This role will require an individual who is able to integrate with a team of highly capable engineers focussed on the delivery of 'state of the art' technology. What you will be doing:
* Laboratory processing, testing, analysis and reporting of component materials to the wider team.
* Peer-reviewing and data-checking of reports with high attention to detail prior to release. Efficient data management and data-entry will be critical, using systems such as Siemens Teamcenter and MES (manufacturing execution system).
* Improve, refine and optimise current methods of analysis, data-capture and reporting to reduce workload and improve data feedback time.
* Support in the running of the lab e.g. ensuring calibrations and equipment servicing are up to date and consumables are fully stocked.
* HS&E – Support creation of risk assessments, CoSHH risk assessments, chemical and Nitrogen management.

To be successful in this role you will need:
* Engineering or relevant discipline degree, HND or HNC with Manufacturing Engineering experience.
* Hands-on experience in using lab equipment such as microscopes, DSC, DMA, Rheometer, cutting, polishing equipment would be advantageous
* Have experience in creating/checking/analysing data and writing technical reports.
* To work within a small, friendly, dynamic team where problem-solving will frequently be required and where contribution of ideas will be essential (and actively encouraged).
* Familiarity with, and application of, Six Sigma tools (such as Gauge R&R and MSA), use of Minitab to statistically analyse data and use of coding to improve/optimise processes would be advantageous.
