Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Clinical Psychologist to provide evidence-based psychological therapies to Cambridge University’s Clinical School Mental Health Service (CSMHS). The post is based in CPFT's Psychological Medicine Service, working with Medical Students at Cambridge University who are experiencing mental health challenges. The post holder will work closely with the service’s Consultant Psychiatrist. The Psychological Medicine Service includes Liaison Psychiatry and Clinical Health Psychology for adults and children, with over 50 Clinical Psychologists across Adult and Paediatric Psychology. The role is a one and a half day per week maternity leave cover with flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
The Clinical Psychologist will be part of the Psychological Medicine Service, providing specialist psychological assessments, formulations, and therapies to Clinical School Students at the University of Cambridge’s School of Clinical Medicine. They will work closely with the service’s Consultant Psychiatrist, Clinical Psychologist, and the Clinical School’s Sub-Dean for Student Welfare. There is potential to collaborate with other services, contribute to national initiatives and develop research opportunities.
Responsibilities
* Provide evidence-based assessments, formulations, and psychological therapy to Clinical School Students.
* Develop psychological formulations that integrate information from assessments within a coherent framework drawing on psychological theory and evidence, incorporating interpersonal, societal, cultural and biological factors.
* Develop and implement plans for formal psychological treatment and/or management of clients’ psychological problems based on an evidence-based conceptual framework.
* Collaborate with colleagues across the Psychological Medicine Service, including the Consultant Psychiatrist, Clinical Psychologist, and the Clinical School’s Sub-Dean for Student Welfare.
* Contribute to opportunities for collaboration with other services, national initiatives, and research development within the service.
* Work within the service’s range of modalities (including CBT, CAT, IPT, EMDR) and engage in CPD opportunities in clinical health psychology.
Qualifications and Experience
* Clinical Psychologist with experience in delivering evidence-based psychological therapies and complex assessments.
* Ability to interpret and integrate data from psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, observations, and structured interviews.
* Desirable flexibility to work in a maternity cover post with hybrid working arrangements.
