The role
As a Driver, you’ll be at the heart of our Transport Services team, ensuring Service personnel, equipment, and vehicles get to the right place at the right time. This is more than just driving, it’s about supporting national defence and contributing to a mission that matters. You’ll operate a wide range of vehicles, from passenger cars and vans to minibuses and coaches, making every journey count.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
1. Undertake a range of driving duties, including freight delivery, chauffeur tasks and general transport tasks
2. Observe all EU Drivers Hours Regulations (EU Regulation )
3. Check and report all defects on fleet vehicles promptly
4. Correctly complete and use tachographs where required
5. Carry out daily inspections, vehicle valeting and day‑to‑day maintenance of the Transport Section
6. Report all accidents, near‑misses and safety concerns to Line Management.
This role is full time working 42 hours per week and is based on site at Wyton, near Cambridgeshire. Shift patterns include:
Two‑shift pattern, Monday–Friday (alternating):
7. Early: 09:00–16:00
8. Late: 13:00–22:00
9. 1 weekend in 6 (with 1 day off before and 2 days off after)
Essential experience of the Driver:
Good knowledge of the UK road network, particularly major airports.
Qualifications for the Driver:
10. Full UK Driving Licence
11. Category D Licence
12. Driver CPC – Certificate of Professional Competence.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
