Education & Events Officer
Reports to: Conference Manager
Hours of work: 37 per week (Monday – Friday)
Location: Hybrid (one day per month at SLCC headquarters in Taunton)
Role Summary: The job holder will be a member of the Education and Events team, providing administrative support to both the Conference Manager and the Education Manager. Using existing and supporting the development of best practice systems and processes, the jobholder will ensure these functions operate efficiently and effectively, and that the good reputation of the SLCC and its members are always well served.
Purpose of the role: To support the Conference Manager and Education Manager in carrying out their functions, including:
* Managing all administrative tasks related to the events schedule
* Identifying new training topics to keep offerings current and forward‑looking
* Running the well‑established webinar programme
Key Duties & Responsibilities
* Ensure webinar topics and content are relevant to membership by working closely with members and using feedback tools to build a database of member interests.
* Propose new sessions based on independent research and emerging sector changes.
* Build good working relationships with trainers, support their engagement needs, and enhance member experience.
* Schedule and promote the CiLCA training delivered by SLCC’s recognised CiLCA trainers.
* Add new webinar programme items from member feedback and biennial survey inputs.
* Deliver the SLCC webinar programme on Microsoft Teams.
* Act as the sole point of contact for launching webinars and welcoming participants.
* Ensure webinars and resources are listed correctly on the CRM in a timely fashion.
* Prepare promotional briefs for all SLCC webinars, liaising with the Sales & Marketing Officer to publish new courses on the website promptly.
* Monitor webinar bookings, manage under‑booked events, and communicate cancellations or postponements to trainers and delegates.
* Produce and upload webinar resources (joining instructions, thank‑you emails, feedback) to the member portal.
* Compile thank‑you emails and feedback surveys via the mailing manager for delegates.
* Administer the Welsh Government bursary applications, providing members with appropriate information.
* Respond to delegate enquiries via phone and email professionally.
* Publish bi‑monthly content to promote SLCC’s Education & Events offerings in the Clerk Magazine.
* Maintain an expressions‑of‑interest register for new course topics requested by members.
* Provide monthly statistics on webinar numbers and attendance.
* Administer CiLCA registrations, including registering students with the awarding body (Ascentis) and adding names to the CiLCA qualified register.
* Claim and distribute CiLCA certificates and maintain the qualified register.
* Support the Education Manager with documentation for Ascentis External Verification Visits.
* Engage with members and students to gather feedback on educational offerings.
* Seek continuous improvement of working practices and CRM usage, suggesting development work when needed.
* Assist the Education Manager with attendee bookings for Community Governance study days.
* Provide administration and in‑person support to the Conference Manager during live events.
* Maintain the SLCC’s excellent reputation for training and conference delivery, ensuring delegate satisfaction exceeds expectations.
* Undertake continuous professional development identified by the role.
* Carry out duties and activities reasonably requested of an SLCC Officer.
* Provide fast telephone response during operating times (09:00–17:00 Mon‑Thu; 09:00–16:30 Fri).
* Travel regularly; a full driving licence is required.

* Experience facilitating virtual and hybrid events.
* Experience with event organisation and administration.
