Escape Recruitment look for a Yard Operator for our client. You will play a crucial role in supporting the safe, efficient and effective running of our yard operations. Your responsibilities will include receiving and dispatching goods, maintaining plant and equipment, and delivering general labour support to the depot team. Key Responsibilities Operate a Counterbalance Forklift in a safe and efficient manner. Handle the loading and unloading of plant and equipment. Prepare, clean and maintain equipment, including pressure washing where necessary. Ensure customer orders are checked and verified prior to dispatch. Stack and store plant and equipment safely and in accordance with guidelines. Carry out and document equipment checks and inspections regularly and before dispatch. Accurately record all incoming and outgoing stock movements daily. Inspect equipment for damage and report findings in line with quality control procedures. Complete periodic stock checks and report discrepancies directly to the Depot Operations Manager. Maintain high standards of yard and workshop discipline and conduct. Ensure compliance with company policies, operational procedures, and Health & Safety legislation. Work cooperatively with other departments to maintain efficient depot operations. Keep the yard and working areas clean, tidy and safe at all times. What We're Looking For Proven experience in a yard, warehouse or similar operational environment. Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence - Essential. Clean and valid UK Driving Licence - Essential. Physically fit with the ability to lift and handle heavy items regularly. Strong communication skills - both verbal and written. High attention to detail and accuracy in stock handling and record-keeping. A proactive problem-solver with a hands-on approach. A positive, adaptable attitude and a willingness to support across different tasks. Working Conditions Based in a busy outdoor yard environment - exposure to varying weather conditions. Frequent manual handling, including lifting, bending and movement of heavy items. Use of power washers and other cleaning equipment. Full PPE and safety equipment will be provided.
