Associate Lecturer / Lecturer in Electrical Engineering

Overview

Join the School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications in the Faculty of Engineering at UNSW as an Associate Lecturer / Lecturer in a teaching and research role. You will develop your own research in Electrical Engineering while teaching undergraduate and postgraduate classes in areas including energy systems, embedded systems, control systems, microelectronics, signal processing, and telecommunications. You will conduct classes, design and develop learning activities, and publish high‑quality research as part of a team and/or independently.

Teaching & Research Responsibilities

* Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in specified electrical engineering disciplines.
* Design and deliver curriculum, assessment, and learning activities.
* Conduct high‑quality research in Electrical Engineering, publish results, and contribute to the school's research profile.
* Collaborate with faculty colleagues and industry partners.

Employment Details

* Position: Associate Lecturer (Level A) or Lecturer (Level B)
* Type: Full time, Fixed term – 2 years
* Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia
* Salary: Level A – AUD 113,911 to 121,838 per annum + 17% superannuation; Level B – AUD 127,947 to 150,830 per annum + 17% superannuation.

Qualifications – Level A

* A PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with relevant work experience.
* Proven commitment to keeping up‑to‑date with discipline knowledge and developments.
* Evidence of teaching and learning design, development, and delivery at undergraduate/postgraduate level.
* Knowledge of educational technologies and online delivery methods.
* Evidence of effective student engagement, assessment, and feedback.
* Preparedness to undertake professional development of teaching practice.
* Evidence of ability to nurture students from diverse backgrounds and support equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
* Demonstrated research capability with independent research, publications and conference presentations.
* Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills.
* High level of communication and interpersonal skills.
* Commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values.
* Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities.

Qualifications – Level B

* Same core qualifications as Level A with additional demonstrated record of high‑quality research and impact.
* Evidence of curriculum design and development at multiple levels and scales.
* Experience or knowledge of industry or work‑integrated learning (desirable).
* Ability to mentor and guide students and support student wellbeing.
* Track record of significant industry or professional involvement.
* Excellent networking and communication skills.
* Organisational and interpersonal skills.
* Commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values.
* Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities.
