What's involved with this role: JOB TITLE: Revenues Officer - Fully Remote working REF: Bristol 5272054 Pay rate: £20.86 per hour PAYE Working Arrangement: Fully Remote working The role: On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Revenues Officer to administer council tax accounts ensuring accurate and prompt billing, collection, and recovery of accounts. Previous experience of NEC and Info@Work is essential. Key Responsibilities: Obtain and assess information to determine local taxation liability in accordance with legislation. This includes determination and allowance of discounts, reliefs, and exemptions. Accurately update and maintain the revenues databases to ensure prompt and accurate billing, collection, and recovery of accounts Respond appropriately to enquiries received from citizens, businesses and agents and action amendments to accounts. Agree repayment plans and determine appropriate recovery action that takes account of the person’s circumstances whilst maximising collection. Contribute to the review of working practices, procedures, and documents by making suggestions for improvement in service delivery and performance. Take part in the training or coaching of other colleagues either on a one-to-one basis or in a formal training environment e.g. to assist with the induction of new staff. What the client is looking for: Proven experience in administering Council Tax accounts within a local authority or similar environment. Extensive working knowledge of NEC (Northgate) and Info@Work systems. A thorough knowledge of local taxation law or experience which demonstrates the ability to absorb and understand complex legislation Experience in the collection or recovery of revenue (public or private sector). A high standard of literacy and numeracy. Strong understanding of Council Tax legislation, including the assessment and application of discounts, exemptions, and reliefs. Ability to accurately update and maintain revenue databases to support timely and efficient billing, collection, and recovery processes. Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment.
