Head of Operations / Construction Manager (Civils Focus, Growth Opportunity)
We are working with a forward-thinking construction firm seeking a Head of Operations who can also step into a Construction Manager role. This is a pivotal, senior-level appointment — quite possibly the most important hire the company will make as it embarks on an ambitious growth journey.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy, operations, and on-site delivery, with the experience and drive to help scale a business from £20m to £50m+ turnover.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the operational and on-site delivery functions, ensuring seamless coordination between project managers, site managers, and the wider team.
*
Implement and refine operational systems, with a particular focus on scaling processes to support rapid business growth.
*
Provide strong leadership, commercial oversight, and hands-on problem-solving to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest standards.
*
Act as a strategic partner in the leadership team, shaping the company’s direction towards a 5–7 year exit plan.
What We’re Looking For
✅ Experience & Background
*
Demonstrable success in helping grow a business from £20m to £50m+ turnover.
*
Extensive civils experience is essential.
*
Experience in systemising operations — not just driving turnover, but embedding operational maturity.
*
Proficiency with Procore or similar construction management software.
✅ Skills & Character
*
Visionary leadership and ambition.
*
Strong commercial acumen and a hands-on, solutions-focused mindset.
*
Comfortable working autonomously, making decisions, and “putting out fires” without always escalating.
*
Ideally Someone who has vast knowledge in the industry, still hungry, ambitious, and in the “risk-taking” phase of their career.
