SEN Teaching Assistant – Full Time

Contract: Full-time, Monday–Friday
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a primary-aged child with ASD and ADHD within a welcoming school in Blackburn. The successful candidate will build a positive, trusting relationship and help the pupil access learning, regulate emotions, and develop social and communication skills.
The pupil may display challenging behaviours, so we are looking for someone calm, patient, and confident in using de-escalation strategies. Previous experience supporting children with additional needs—particularly autism, ADHD, or behavioural needs—will be highly advantageous.
Requirements:
* Available 5 full days per week
* Experience in SEN, classroom support, or behaviour support (preferred)
* Ability to use supportive, consistent behaviour-management strategies
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* A proactive, compassionate approach to supporting children with diverse needs
* Willingness to follow safeguarding procedures (DBS required or willingness to obtain one)
Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 support throughout the school day
* Help the pupil engage in learning and follow routines
* Assist with behaviour regulation and emotional support
* Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo
* Contribute to a positive, inclusive classroom environment

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
