Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role located in Shrewsbury, with the flexibility to work remotely on occasion. The base salary is £40,000, with a Doctor of Engineering (DOE) plus a substantial signing bonus. As a Senior Ecologist you will lead and conduct ecological surveys, including Phase 1 Habitat and protected species surveys. You will be responsible for preparing reports, managing Ecological Impact Assessments, advising on biodiversity conservation strategies, supporting projects involving woodland creation and environmental management. Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and liaising with public and private stakeholders will be an integral part of the role.
Qualifications
* Strong expertise in wildlife and botany, with experience in biodiversity conservation and protected species identification.
* Proficiency in field work, including conducting ecological surveys and assessments.
* Experience in report writing, with the ability to produce clear and detailed ecological reports and assessments.
* Knowledge and application of Environmental Impact Assessment processes and methodologies.
* Membership or eligibility for membership in relevant professional bodies, such as the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively.
* A degree in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field is required; a postgraduate qualification is desirable.
* Proficiency in Geographic Information System (GIS) tools and mapping is advantageous.
* Knowledge of European Protected Species mitigation licensing is a plus.
