Offer description

We are at the beginning of a global energy transformation of a scale not seen in generations. A future low-cost, low-carbon electric grid, serving a world that electrifies everything, is within our reach. The last remaining gap is breaking the link between electricity supply and demand. The lowest-cost, most sustainable sources of energy today come from intermittent renewable generation; but our homes, businesses and industries need electricity at the flick of a switch. That gap can be closed by energy storage: Devices that store electricity when it is plentiful, then provide power back to the grid when it is needed. Solutions, including ones using lithium-ion batteries, are being deployed in massive numbers to start filling this gap. But so far, none of those solutions have proven the ability to deliver power any time, anywhere, over decades of service: The level of reliability we’ve come to expect, and that the future grid will need. This is the biggest challenge in energy today. Invinity is at the forefront of finding a solution. And we need you to help us deliver it. Developed, manufactured and delivered by our teams in Canada and the UK, Invinity’s vanadium flow batteries (or “VFBs”) can be installed anywhere and consistently deliver electricity as needed over a service life exceeding 30 years. Moreover, Invinity’s VFBs are highly recyclable, don’t rely on rare or conflict minerals, and won’t catch fire. Invinity is a global VFB leader, with over 190 megawatt-hours of its batteries operational or in construction for over 82 projects across 15 countries - more than any other emerging energy storage provider. We’ve deployed the largest flow battery systems in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and the UK. Along the way we’ve earned financial support from the UK Infrastructure Bank, the U.S. Department of Energy, and some of the world’s leading institutional investors. £28,440 - £28,440 a year Role Purpose The Assembly Worker is responsible for the precise and efficient assembly of panel components used in Vanadium Flow Battery (VFB) systems. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical capability, and the ability to work with specialised tools, materials, and processes to ensure high-quality, leak-free, and structurally sound battery panels. Key Responsibilities Panel Assembly Assemble battery panels and sub‑components following technical drawings, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Potentially handle membranes, frames, electrodes, gaskets, seals, and fasteners carefully to prevent contamination or damage. Ensure correct alignment, compression, and fastening of panel stacks to required tolerances. Quality Control Conduct in-process checks and final inspections to verify panels meet dimensional and quality standards. Identify defects such as misalignment, seal issues, surface damage, or contamination. Record assembly data accurately, including batch numbers, measurements, and inspection outcomes. Equipment & Process Use hand tools Potential work within chemical handling protocols relating to electrolytes or cleaning agents (training provided). Follow EHS procedures around handling vanadium electrolyte components and cleanroom/controlled-environment practices where applicable. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement Work collaboratively with Production Technicians, Engineers, and Quality teams to solve assembly issues. Suggest improvements in processes, tooling, and work methods to enhance repeatability and efficiency. Participate in training, cross-skilling, and improvement initiatives. Skills & Competencies Essential Experience in technical or precision assembly work (electronics, automotive, aerospace, precision manufacturing, etc.). Ability to follow detailed technical instructions, drawings, and quality standards. Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work. Basic mechanical understanding and confidence using hand tools. Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team. Desirable Experience assembling electrochemical, battery, fuel cell, or similar energy storage components. Familiarity with cleanroom or controlled-environment procedures. Experience using precision measurement equipment. Understanding of torque specifications and pressure sealing principles. Qualifications Additional technical or vocational assembly training is beneficial BUT NOT ESSENTIAL Physical Requirements Good hand–eye coordination and ability to perform detailed, repetitive tasks. Ability to work seated or standing for extended periods. Comfortable handling small components. Use of PPE as required (gloves, safety glasses, lab coats, etc.). Working Conditions Workshop or assembly environment; may include controlled humidity/clean areas. Interaction with chemicals in a safe, controlled process (full training provided). With its exposure to our most impactful emerging products, this role will be critical in us delivering on those opportunities. If you are great at what you do, willing to engage with our dedicated, collaborative culture, and motivated by taking on and delivering against some of the biggest opportunities in energy today, we’d love to hear from you. We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans.
