Business Development Executive


UK Light Commercial Vehicle Market | Intermediary Channels | Manufacturing


An established and growing manufacturing business is seeking to appoint a commercially credible Business Development Executive to join its Sales team.


This is not a generic sales role. We are specifically looking for someone who understands the UK Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) market and can operate confidently within intermediary channels such as contract hire, leasing, fleet funding and broker networks.


This role requires immediate credibility with partners and the ability to operate within the contract hire and leasing ecosystem from day one.


The Opportunity

You will play a key role in driving pipeline growth, recovering volume, and protecting margin within a competitive, price-sensitive market.


Working closely with Channel Sales Managers, you will develop and qualify opportunities across renewal prospects, lapsed customers, broker networks and inbound enquiries, ensuring strong CRM discipline and accurate forecasting.


This position sits within a fast-paced, engineering-led environment where commercial accountability and structured sales execution are critical.


Key Responsibilities

Market & Channel Development

* Operate effectively within the UK LCV market
* Engage contract hire, leasing, fleet funding and broker networks
* Identify competitive win-back opportunities in a price-sensitive landscape
* Support specification positioning within intermediary channels

Pipeline Creation & Qualification

* Conduct structured outbound activity to renewal prospects, lapsed customers and brokers
* Generate qualified meetings for Channel Sales Managers
* Assess technical and commercial fit before routing opportunities internally
* Build early-stage relationships with intermediaries and end users

Revenue & Margin Delivery

* Convert inbound leads into sales orders
* Support fleet and larger commercial opportunities
* Balance short-term volume recovery with longer-term margin protection

Forecasting & CRM Ownership

* Maintain strong CRM discipline and data accuracy
* Deliver reliable forecasting aligned to sales targets
* Report against pipeline value, conversion rates and activity metrics


About You

We are looking for a commercially accountable sales professional who:

* Has hands-on experience within the UK LCV market (essential)
* Understands intermediary sales channels (contract hire, leasing, brokers, fleet funding)
* Has operated in a target-driven, commercially accountable environment
* Demonstrates structured forecasting and CRM ownership
* Can evidence competitive win-backs
* Is resilient, proactive and confident engaging external stakeholders
* Balances commercial urgency with strategic thinking

We are less interested in general industrial or capital equipment sales backgrounds unless there is clear and recent LCV crossover.


Skills & Experience

Essential

* Proven experience within the UK Light Commercial Vehicle market
* Exposure to intermediary/contract hire/leasing channels
* Strong pipeline generation and qualification capability
* Experience working to structured KPIs and revenue targets
* CRM discipline and forecasting ownership

Desirable

* Experience within vehicle conversions or specialist manufacturing
* Understanding of temperature-controlled or fleet-based applications
