Rate: Up to £420/day Contract End Date: 31/03/2026 (with high potential for extension) Deadline for Submissions: 10/02/2026 at 10:00 Role Summary This contract role supports the Royal Navy’s Type 23 Frigate programme, working primarily on mechanical engineering activities across acquisition and in-service support. The post holder will apply core mechanical engineering principles to assure safe, effective and supportable maritime capability within a highly regulated MOD environment. Key Responsibilities Provide mechanical engineering advice and assurance in support of Type 23 Frigate systems Support generation and review of technical requirements, documentation and artefacts Manage and assess mechanical designs, modifications and in-service support activities Apply relevant legislation, standards and MOD policy to ensure safety, quality and compliance Identify, manage and escalate technical and safety risks appropriately Support verification, validation and acceptance activities Collaborate with stakeholders, contractors and delivery teams across the acquisition lifecycle Essential Experience and Qualifications Mechanical or Mechatronic engineering background Experience providing technical advice and delivering mechanical engineering outcomes Experience working within regulated engineering environments STEM qualification at RQF Level 4 or above, or equivalent Professional registration (EngTech / RSciTech / MarEngTech) or higher, or RQF Level 6 qualification Additional Information This is a contract appointment aligned to MOD delivery needs.
