An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Advanced Training Fellow in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. The post is a 2 year fixed term period, offering an excellent chance to further develop your skills in both Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
The department has a strong reputation in Urogynaecology, Gynae‑oncology, Fetal Medicine, Ambulatory Gynaecology and a BSGE accredited Endometriosis Centre, as well as a centre of excellence for undergraduate and postgraduate education.
The gynaecological and obstetric practice is diverse. Emergency gynaecology services and the early pregnancy unit are supervised by the on‑call Gynaecologist and the Morning Gynaecologist. Clinical responsibilities include attending outpatient clinics, inpatient and day‑case theatre sessions, and the Labour ward/maternal assessment unit. This post covers clinical activity at both the Royal Stoke and County Hospital sites, and you will participate in the Senior Registrar on‑call rota.
Job responsibilities
Clinical duties include attending a broad range of outpatient clinics, managing inpatient and day‑case theatre sessions, and contributing to the Labour ward and maternal assessment unit. The role also involves working with a multidisciplinary team, delivering care across two hospital sites, and participating in the Senior Registrar on‑call rota.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent
* Full GMC Registration
* MRCOG completed
* Competencies equivalent to RCOG/Deanery Matrix at ST6+ level
* Previous NHS experience
* Awards or distinctions earned during the 1st degree
* Academic and extracurricular achievements
Skills
* Effective communication with patients, senior medical staff and other health professionals
* Proficient and efficient handling of Obstetrics and Gynaecology problems with evidence of safe, sound practical procedures
* Ability to organise and prioritise busy workloads and cope under pressure
* Ability to work as a member of a team
* Leadership abilities and initiative in team settings
* Evidence of leadership in clinical, educational or governance activities
* Counselling and advanced communication or related qualification/training
* Advanced procedural competence (e.g. intermediate laparoscopy & complex deliveries)
