About our School

Situated in the lovely setting of Glengorse Estate in Battle, East Sussex ISP School provides specialist education for - year-olds with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH), communication and interaction, cognition, and learning needs.

Our mission is to provide each child with a diverse and appropriate education in a safe, supportive environment that promotes self-discipline and engagement, inspires learning, and encourages aspiration and achievement.

We are looking for an inspirational qualified teacher who has experience working with vulnerable children in school across key stages & and is prepared to teach/guide children particularly in Science, Maths and the wider curriculum.

Role responsibilities

The Role

We are seeking a caring, forward-thinking leader to join our team as Deputy Headteacher In this role, you will:

1. Ensure high-quality teaching and learning across the school, with a focus on inclusion and differentiated instruction for SEND students.
2. Assess, monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of pupils.
3. Participate in arrangements for preparing pupils for external examinations.
4. Whole school organisation, strategy and development of the curriculum
5. Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the school’s policies, practices and procedures in such a way as to support the school’s values and vision.
6. Work with others on curriculum and/or pupil development to secure co-ordinated outcomes.
7. Use your expertise to promote a therapeutic approach to behaviour and emotional well-being.
8. Collaborate with staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.
9. Manage and support staff teams, fostering a culture of cooperation, flexibility, and continuous improvement.
10. Work closely with other leaders within the Polaris community to share best practices and ensure alignment with our ethos.

Requirements

11. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience in SEND.
12. Experience of delivering a high-quality curriculum with a focus on supporting young people with SEND
13. Experience in leading and managing teams with a compassionate, therapeutic approach.
14. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work inclusively with staff, students, and families.
15. A proactive, adaptable attitude, able to set up new systems and processes aligned with the school’s values and ethos.
16. Previous senior or middle leadership experience
