The Role
We are seeking an experienced and creative SEN Teacher to join our team on a freelance basis for 2–3 days per week. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by delivering tailored education to small groups and 1:1 learners who thrive on individualised support.
The role is ideal for a teacher who has a strong track record of working with SEND learners, and who can adapt their teaching to meet diverse needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons across core subjects and life skills.
* Use structured, multi-sensory, and communication-rich strategies (TEACCH, PECS, SCERTS, visuals, routines).
* Assess, record, and track pupil progress against personalised learning plans.
* Implement positive behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques.
* Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, families, and external professionals.
* Maintain safeguarding, risk assessment, and compliance records to the highest standard.
What We are Looking For
We are particularly keen to hear from teachers with SEND-specific expertise and a genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.
Essential:
* QTS/QTLS (or equivalent) with proven SEND teaching experience.
* Experience supporting pupils with ASC, SEMH, or complex communication/sensory needs.
* Excellent behaviour management and trauma-informed practice.
* Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit different learning styles.
* Enhanced DBS (Update Service preferred) and right to work in the UK.
* Flexibility to work 2–3 set days per week.
Desirable:
* Experience with EHCP planning and progress reviews.
* Training in Team Teach/positive handling.
* Familiarity with augmentative communication systems and sensory regulation approaches.
Pay & Benefits
