Finatal is working with a well-established, venture capital firm to hire a Portfolio Investment Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly active investor focused on scaling high-growth businesses across a variety of sectors.
The role will focus on proactive portfolio management, funding and scaling of innovative high-growth businesses across the East Midlands region.
Responsibilities:
* Act as Board Observer/NED, monitoring performance against KPIs and business plans
* Assess performance and funding needs, mitigating cash risks
* Review management accounts and ensure compliance with investment agreements
* Support strong governance and advise Boards on strategy and effectiveness
* Monitor delivery of value creation plans, challenging where needed
* Prepare and present investment papers to Investment Committee
* Support deal execution, follow-ons, syndication, and exits
* Identify exit opportunities and help deliver agreed strategies
* Deliver regular portfolio reporting to senior stakeholders
* Ensure regulatory and compliance requirements are met
* Maintain accurate CRM records and manage conflicts of interest
* Build networks to support deal flow and fundraising
* Maintain relationships with introducers and co-investors
* Track market trends and identify new opportunities
* Support and mentor junior team members
* Promote best practice and responsible investing across the portfolio
Requirements:
* 2–5 years’ experience in venture capital, private equity, or similar
* Strong understanding of the UK early-stage investment landscape
* Experience working with Boards and senior stakeholders
* Proven ability to manage multiple investments/projects
* Strong financial analysis and modelling skills
* Experience preparing and presenting investment papers
* Track record of portfolio monitoring and reporting
* Understanding of regulatory/compliance environments
* Advanced Excel and strong Microsoft Office skills
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Good academic background (relevant degree preferred)
* Willingness to travel across the UK
* Right to work in the UK
