Post Summary:
Applications are invited for a clinical development fellow role based within the Orthopaedic Geriatric Service at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. The postholder will work as a key member of the Orthopaedic Geriatric Service team led by Medicine of the Elderly Consultants and Specialty Doctors.
The postholder will based across three busy Orthopaedic trauma wards at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
These posts will give successful applicants the opportunity to experience acute geriatric medicine within orthopaedics, before committing to a programme of training through an internal medicine training application.
Successful applicants will have the opportunity to develop their clinical and professional competence in a purposeful and supervised manner as an assist to overall CV development.
Successful applicants will have equivalent of up to one half day per week developmental time which can be used in the following opportunities: to have quality improvement methodology training with a view to completing an improvement project; to enhance their teaching skills; or participate in a research project or training.
Regular teaching is available for all staff to develop clinical skills. NHS Lothian wide teaching also takes place once a week to develop broader skills. There are also multiple opportunities to deliver teaching to medical students and junior staff as well as to gain a qualification in education through the Clinical Educator Programme.
This posts are available from August 2025 for 1 year. The successful applicants will all be allocated educational supervisors and have the opportunity of an annual appraisal.
