Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Aquatic Ecologist to join the Aquatic Ecology Team at AECOM. You will play a key role in providing expert technical support and undertaking surveys for new and existing projects, while contributing to the growth and development of our team.
You will join a growing, friendly, and highly motivated team and work on a diverse range of projects including the Environment Agency, Natural England, Water Companies, renewable energy projects, and nationally significant infrastructure projects. Projects may involve baseline data collection, fish passage and weir removal, fish rescue and translocation, water quality monitoring, pollution response, and drought monitoring, among others.
Responsibilities
* Provide aquatic ecology input to EcIA, planning, mitigation, and multi‑disciplinary projects.
* Author technical reports and collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams to provide specialist input.
* Undertake data analysis and processing.
* Produce EcIA documents in line with CIEEM guidelines.
* Manage aquatic ecology input into projects, including survey design and costing.
* Lead a team of multi‑skilled aquatic ecologists across nationwide offices and laboratories.
* Support the wider environmental business.
Qualifications
* Understanding and implementation of industry‑standard monitoring techniques and analyses for aquatic ecology, including consenting and permitting requirements.
* Familiarity with legislation relating to the aquatic environment, including the Water Framework Directive (WFD).
* Experience of the EcIA/EIA process, from baseline data collection to impact assessment and mitigation design.
* Experience of WFD compliance assessment.
* Full UK driving licence.
