Birmingham City Council – Social Worker (Grade 4)

Employment type: Permanent, Full‑time, 36.5 hours per week
Salary: £34,434 – £41,771 per annum (subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review)
Golden Hello payment: £1,000 (upon external appointment) and £5,000 per annum (paid monthly over a 12‑month period, pro rata for part‑time staff)
Responsibilities
Working within the legislative framework, you will carry out social work functions, including Safeguarding Section 42 Enquiries, and will apply relevant legislation to provide support and guidance to service users. You will manage a caseload, produce professional reports, and deliver timely and resilient service under pressure. You will work positively as part of a multidisciplinary team and in partnership with other stakeholders.
Qualifications
Qualified and registered with Social Work England. Experience in, or a demonstrated enthusiasm for, family safeguarding is preferred. Leadership abilities and a commitment to working in a multidisciplinary setting are essential.
