An exciting fixed term position has arisen within our Stafford & Cannock Mental Health Support Teams. We are looking for an experienced & enthusiastic Education Mental Health Practitioner/Childrens Wellbeing Practitioner. You will continue to build on the fantastic work carried out within your allocated schools. The role is varied and no two days are the same; activities may include setting up and delivering group work and assemblies, or delivering assessment & interventions, as well as supporting schools to develop their whole school approaches to mental health & wellbeing. You will conduct mental health assessments of children and young people (CYP) presenting with common mental health difficulties such as anxiety and low mood, perform risk assessments, and identify the right level of support for CYP. You will also support schools with their whole school approaches, with opportunities to work with CYP and parents/carers to drive the whole school approach agenda. This is part of an established CAMHS team within the wider health and education structure, working across the Staffordshire locality and supporting other MHSTs in South Staffordshire.
Main duties
* Assess and deliver outcome-focused, evidence-based interventions in educational settings for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, collaborating with the education function of the setting.
* Work in effective, evidence-based partnership with children, young people, their families and educators to develop plans for intervention and agreed outcomes.
* Support and empower children, young people, their parents/carers and families and educators to make informed choices about the interventions offered.
* Operate from an inclusive values base which recognises and respects diversity.
* Accept referrals within educational settings according to local and national protocols.
* Undertake and record accurate risk assessments and operate risk management processes in line with locally agreed procedures, including safeguarding protocols and Local Safeguarding Board guidance.
* Adhere to regulations, processes and procedures within the educational service, including HR policies, training requirements, referral protocols, and emergency procedures. Signpost referrals of children with more complex needs to an appropriate local service.

Job Description

* Experience of working with children and young people, their families and others.
* Experience of working and liaising with a wide range of agencies and stakeholders.
* Experience of working with C&YP who have social, emotional and/or behavioural difficulties
* Experience of working with anxiety disorders
* Experience of working with mood disorders
* Experience delivering specific therapeutic interventions (e.g., CBT, solution-focused brief therapy)

* Experience of working with children and families in healthcare and education settings
* Experience monitoring/outcome measures for children’s emotional wellbeing
* Experience navigating complex social systems with conflicting priorities
