Summary
:
The Jig and Fixture Design Engineer will work closely with ‘Manufacturing Engineering’ and ‘Production’ to deliver Jigs and Fixtures that are robust and production ready in a time that is aligned to the main project deadlines.
Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Work with the Manufacturing Engineers and Engineering Management team to ensure that the jigs, fixtures and stillages that have been designed are suitable and fit for purpose.
2. Ensure that the 3D Models and Drawings are suitable for Manufacture (Design for Manufacture)
3. Meticulous & accurate documentation skills for all documentation including engineering drawings, SOP’s and SSOW’s.
4. Work closely with the Design Department for New Trailer Jigs & Fixtures

13. Be an excellent Timekeeper.
14. Willing to go the “Extra Mile” to achieve a goal.
15. Practical understanding of Fabrication and Welding, including Weld Symbols and usage on drawings.
16. Understanding of “Poka Yoke” on Jigs and Fixtures
17. Experienced in the use of SolidWorks 3D CAD Software or similar, and the creation of Engineering Drawings.
18. An understanding of how Jigs or Fixtures are designed and used in production, for Robotic Welding, Manual Welding and Assembly.
19. Willingness to travel between all our sites to speak with other members of the team to ensure a Right First Time Jig or Fixture is delivered to Ifor Williams Trailers.

Qualifications Required:
20. Degree or HNC/HND in Manufacturing, or Manufacturing / Production Engineering (or equivalent experience).
21. Good knowledge and experience in sheet metal and fabrication / welding.
22. Experience in manufacturing or production environments, including Laser Cutting, Punching, Folding, Robotic and Manual Welding and assembly.
23. Understanding of Tolerancing and Tolerance Stack-ups.
24. Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
25. Experience using engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
26. Good communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
27. Experience using SolidWorks 3D CAD Software or similar, that can be demonstrated at an interview.
28. Extensive experience in the creation of Drawings generated from the 3D model that can be demonstrated at an interview.
