About the Role
West Yorkshire Police is seeking to appoint a Video Editor to join the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Scientific Support Services (RSSS) Imaging Unit, based at Calder Park, Wakefield.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a specialist, growing area of policing, supporting over 2,000 video editing projects each year for the Yorkshire and Humber regions. You will play a key role in providing an efficient and professional video-editing service to support investigations, court proceedings, and wider policing needs.

What You’ll Be Doing
As a Video Editor, you will:
•Review incoming video-editing requests.
•Edit force generated media (witness interviews and bodyworn video)
•Apply appropriate editing techniques in line with customer requirements.
•Organise and manage your workload effectively.
•Provide professional editing advice and guidance to customers based on your knowledge and expertise.
•Review, interpret and edit footage according to investigative requirements.
•Assess and work from written transcripts, edit logs and detailed instructions.
•Handle sensitive, graphic and sometimes distressing material with professionalism and resilience.
•Collaborate with colleagues within a small, supportive team environment.

What We’re Looking For
To be considered for this role, you must have:
•Prior experience producing video edits in a professional or academic editing environment.
•Strong, detailed knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Adobe Premiere.
•The ability to review and listen to video content that may be graphic, sensitive or distressing.
•Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Experience working with the following types of footage would be beneficial (though not essential):
•Police Body Worn Video (BWV)
•In car camera systems
•Video Recorded witness interviews

You will be joining a friendly team of Editors with your own dedicated editing workstation. The role offers:
•Flexitime: Monday to Friday, no weekend or bank holiday working.
•Ability to work any hours between 7:00am and 7:00pm to complete your 37 hour week.

Due to the nature of the role, you must provide Biometric samples (fingerprints and DNA) for inclusion on the respective Police Elimination databases for routine speculative searching purposes and be prepared to work flexible hours to meet the requirements of the Video Editing team.
