Estimator\n\nSwindon\n\nPermanent salary + package\n\nReports to: Head of Bid Management\n\nCollaborates with: Bid Managers, Planners, Procurement, Technical Services, HSQE Advisors\n\nAnd Operations teams.\n\nPurpose of the role:\n\n * Preparations of detailed and accurate pricing for tenders\n\n * Supporting Clients with pricing support for early contractor involvement projects\n\nRole Accountabilities\n\n * Ensure company governance procedures are followed at all times\n\n * Work in coordination with the Bid Manager to ensure competitive pricing\n\n * Agree methodologies and outputs for key activities with planner and, where appropriate, with Bid Manager / Design Manager\n\n * Provide advice to Bid Manager / Design Manager on most cost effective design options\n\n * Price alternative design solutions\n\n * Procedure competitive price using methodologies and outputs etc to suit conditions/ situations relevant to the scheme.\n\n * Advise Bid Manager of sufficiency of client bill of quantity / activity schedule and arrange for full quantity take off or checking as required.\n\n * Preparing the price estimate for tenders of budget pricing comprising the following aspects:\n\n * Develop local rates/ build up rates for self-delivered items\n\n * Ensure Working Rule Agreement (and any other specific requirements such as London Living wage) included in labour rates\n\n * Prepare scheme specific labour rate calculation where required.\n\n * Develop local rates/ build up rates for self-delivered items\n\n * Liaise with Planner to reconcile plant resource levels\n\n * Comparison sheet for materials considering unit rate (conversation factors), wastage, waiting times and part loads etc.\n\n * Liaise with procurement to determine appropriate selection of suppliers to send enquiries to.\n\n * Liaise with procurement to determine the sufficiency and compliance of supplier quotations\n\n * Liaise with procurement and agree on the selection of supplier quotations to be used in the estimate\n\n * Liase with procurement to determine sufficiency and compliance of subcontractor quotations\n\nThe Candidate:\n\n * Sound knowledge of civil engineering and construction techniques\n\n * Knowledge of relevant procurement legislation\n\n * Commercial awareness of different forms of contract\n\n * Sound knowledge of the procedural requirements for work winning.\n\n * Detailed knowledge of estimating software packages\n\n * Ideally resides locally to the area and has a full UK driving license\n\nIf you are interested and would like further details, please don’t hesitate to get in touch
