This role offers the chance to be part of a prestigious partnership between Anna Freud and UCL, contributing to an innovative MSc in Psychology and Trauma. As Seminar Leader, you will enjoy a flexible, part-time permanent position with hybrid working, collaborate with leading academics and clinicians, and make a meaningful impact by supporting small student groups in a specialist and rapidly developing field.

What You’ll Do

As the Seminar Leader – MSc Psychology and Trauma (Child & Adolescent), you will play a central role in supporting postgraduate students by leading interactive weekly seminars, acting as a personal tutor, and contributing to assessment and feedback. This role is pivotal in embedding students’ learning, developing their clinical and academic skills, and ensuring a supportive and inclusive educational environment within the programme. As the Seminal Leader you will be:


* Facilitating weekly seminars that build on core lectures and readings, encouraging discussion, debate, and reflective practice among small student groups.li>
* Supporting student development as a personal tutor, meeting termly with assigned students to discuss progress, provide guidance, and address any academic or wellbeing concerns.
* Contributing to assessment and feedback by marking assignments in line with UCL standards, providing constructive feedback, and ensuring timely completion of marking.
* Collaboration & Programme Development – Work closely with Programme Directors and fellow tutors to ensure effective delivery and development of the research project component.
* Upholding academic and safeguarding standards, including compliance with UCL and Anna Freud policies, safeguarding procedures, and promoting equity, diversity and inclusion in all teaching.

What you’ll bring

As the Seminar Leader MSc Psychology and Trauma (Child & Adolescent), you will bring professional expertise, subject knowledge, and the ability to guide and inspire postgraduate students through interactive teaching, assessment, and personal support.

* Relevant professional training and accreditation (e.g. Psychotherapist, Psychologist, Family Therapist) or doctoral-level study in a related field.
* Expert knowledge of psychology, neuroscience, and the impact of trauma on child and adolescent development.
* Experience in leading seminars or group learning, with the skills to facilitate discussion and link theory to practice.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an inclusive approach to supporting students’ academic and personal development.
* A collaborative, organised mindset, able to manage workload independently while contributing to the programme’s quality and success.

Key details

Hours: Part-time: 3.27hrs weekly or 170 hours across the year, to meet seminar time as relevant (9:30-11am or 5:30-7pm Tuesday and/or Wednesday). Programme teaching days and team days are expected to be prioritised .

Salary: £43,264 per annum FTE, plus 6% contributory pension scheme

Location: Hybrid (a mixture of home/onsite working): staff are working onsite for at least 20% of their working hours, at our London site (4-8 Rodney Street, London N1 9JH)
