- THE ROLE -
Canolfan S4C Yr Egin is located on the University of Wales Trinity Saint David's campus in Carmarthen and is a high quality creative centre with a busy working environment. Since opening in 2018 Yr Egin's status as a valuable resource for Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire and Wales has been established.
Y Gegin, namely the café located on the ground floor, is an open and welcoming space and an important part of the buzz at the centre, and the Catering and Conference Chef will play an integral role in maintaining the café's welcoming environment in order to attract and retain visitors to Yr Egin. The post holder will be expected to provide a professional service at Canolfan S4C Yr Egin's café, including events and conferences to the highest standards. The post holder will need to ensure a high quality and cost-efficient provision. The Chef will be expected to develop the café and centre's offer by following food industry guidance and trends working with the Manager of Y Gegin and the Director of Yr Egin to support marketing and business opportunities.
Y Gegin has a broad customer base such as the creative community working at the centre, theatre and cinema audiences, event and conference delegates, University students and staff as well as the local community, families and visitors. Therefore, Y Gegin's Catering and Conference Chef needs to be able to offer a menu and experience that will encourage the customer to return time and time again.
The role will include customer interaction, and the flexibility to support the centre's team to provide an efficient customer-focused and front-facing catering service.
The post holder will be required to have a flexible approach to working hours.
The post holder is expected to work effectively without ongoing supervision and contribute towards Yr Egin's friendly and creative environment.
