Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced and driven Contracts Manager to lead projects and installations within our refrigeration and air conditioning business. The role involves managing a team of engineers, apprentices, and subcontractors maintaining strong client relationships, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and driving operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have excellent site and people management skills, a structured approach to time management, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
What you'll do
The following reflects the main tasks associated with your role and are not intended to be exclusive or exhaustive:
* Oversee the day-to-day activities across projects and installations, ensuring efficient planning, scheduling, and delivery of works.
* Lead, mentor, and develop engineers, apprentices, and subcontractors managing performance, and supporting training needs.
* Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the main point of contact for escalations, reviews, and site support.
* Manage the commercial aspects of projects and installations, including preparing and issuing valuations and costing variations, with support from the Commercial Team.
* Collaborate with the service and maintenance team to provide seamless service delivery during commissioning.
* Ensure all works are carried out safely, on time, within budget, and to the company's quality standards.
* Keep accurate records by maintaining the works diary and updating company management information systems.
* Carry out regular quality audits and implement corrective actions where necessary.
* Review site reports and follow up with appropriate actions to resolve issues.
* Manage equipment and material orders, call offs, and deliveries in line with site requirements.
* Coordinate and manage the activities of subcontractors when engaged.
* Represent the company professionally at all times, demonstrating competence and a customer-focused approach.
* Prepare and complete safe systems of work, including risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), with support from the Health and Safety Manager.
* Undertake any other reasonable duties in line with skills, knowledge, and experience.
What you'll bring
As a Contracts Manager your main skills and experience should include:
* Minimum of NVQ Level 3 in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
* Proven management or supervisory experience within the refrigeration and air conditioning industry.
* Proven experience managing multiple projects and installations simultaneously, with the ability to plan, organise, and oversee work on-site to ensure timely and successful delivery.
* Broad knowledge of equipment from various manufacturers.
* Excellent leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
* Skilled in managing project budgets, valuations, variations, and overall financial performance, with the ability to make informed commercial decisions.
* Sound knowledge of industry regulations, including F-Gas and REFCOM, and general health and safety requirements.
* Competent in Microsoft Office and comfortable using IT systems to manage work schedules and reports.
