Working Hours & Location We believe in flexibility—you should work where you do your best work. ✅ Hybrid working: Most of our team spends 1–2 days per week in the office ✅ Offices in Birmingham, Exeter & London ✅ Core hours: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM UK time (flexible start and finish times) While we support remote working, we may ask you to be in the office more often during your first few months, to help you settle in and get up to speed with the team and our ways of working. Why This Role Matters We are looking for an experienced SRE to work alongside our Platform Engineers to maintain and scale our technology solutions. As the first SRE hire within a rapidly growing tech department, you will be responsible for shaping our site reliability practice and processes. You won’t just be maintaining systems — you’ll be shaping our approach to uptime, performance, and scalability, bringing best-in-class practices to life. What You’ll Be Doing (Key Responsibilities) • Run the pre-production & production environments by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health • Utilise/build software and systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications • Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-value of GGT software solutions • Measure and optimise system performance • Ensure the security of the GGT platform through pen-testing and best practice • Provide primary operational support and engineering for GGT software solutions • Gather and analyse metrics from systems and applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding • Partner with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures • Participate in system design and platform management • Work with the Finance team to monitor cloud spend and look for cost-optimisation opportunities • Ensure that platform SLOs and SLIs are in place • Participate in on-call rotas and respond to incidents About You We’re looking for organised, proactive problem-solvers who thrive in a fast-paced environment. Essential Skills • Golang (or similar high-level language) • NodeJS • GCP (preferred, but AWS/Azure is acceptable) • Knowledge of all areas of SDLC • Experience with cloud monitoring solutions (GCP/Datadog/PagerDuty) • Experience with a relational & non-relational databases • Strong communication skills • DevOps experience Salary & Benefits Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 (dependent on experience) ️ 28 days annual leave ( bank holidays) Flexible & hybrid working ‍ Learning & Development Allowance Regular team events & socials (including a 2-day company Town Hall) Company Bonus Scheme We believe in investing in our people—this isn’t just a job; it’s an opportunity to grow your career.
