Our Arboriculture team is expanding due to increasing workload and is seeking a Graduate Arboriculturist to support arboriculture services on various infrastructure projects, ranging from small design commissions to major UK and international projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct BS5837:2012 surveys for infrastructure projects
* Prepare technical notes, arboricultural method statements, and assessments
* Perform health and safety surveys and reports
* Assist with ecology surveys, including bat surveys and protected species assessments
* Advise on statutory designations such as TPO, CA, and ASNW
* Conduct veteran tree assessments
* Supervise site contractors and implement tree protection measures
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including ecology, landscape, and engineering
Major Projects and Clients
* HS2 – Leading arboriculture and tree protection efforts
* East West Rail – Technical lead for survey coordination
* Ash Dieback – Using AI for disease identification and assessment
* National Highways – Supporting road projects with surveys
* Environment Agency – Habitat creation and flood alleviation projects
* Water companies – Environmental support for Thames, Southern, Scottish Water, and others
* Network Rail – Ongoing collaboration
* Local Authorities – Providing environmental services
Candidate Profile
We seek motivated graduates with a passion for arboriculture and the environment. Candidates should have:
* A degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, or related environmental disciplines (obtained from 2023 onwards)
* Less than 12 months relevant experience
* Strong identification skills for trees and fungi
* Excellent report writing and attention to detail
* Ability to work collaboratively and independently
* Full driving license
Desirable Skills
* Membership of Arboricultural Association or Institute of Chartered Foresters
* Knowledge of BS5837:2012 and BS3998:2010 standards
* Certifications such as CS38 – Tree Climbing and Aerial Rescue, QTRA
