Opportunity
Arup’s Civil Engineering teams excel through wide-ranging work. Our teams engage in projects such as masterplanning, public realm enhancements, sustainable urban drainage solutions, earthworks, landscaping, site development, flooding and coastal risk management, utility coordination, water and wastewater treatment, and infrastructure development. We also work on data centre design, rail projects, energy initiatives, highway design, and more. From initial concept to construction, our teams contribute at every stage of projects, working with public and private sector clients.
Our Graduate Engineers take on a variety of roles, including river engineer, coastal engineer, sustainable urban drainage engineer, highway engineer, site development engineer, water and wastewater engineer, and advisory roles. This diversity enables graduates to gain broad experience and develop specialised skills across the civil engineering sector.
You will work with a broad range of clients, such as government and transport organisations, the Environment Agency, energy companies, local authorities, contractors, water companies and private developers. You will also undertake site visits and surveys, meet with clients and stakeholders, and collaborate with others both within and outside of Arup.
Responsibilities
 * Carry out assessment, analysis and design, preparing design reports, models, drawings, calculations and specifications.
 * Collaborate with Arup colleagues in other disciplines.
 * Work with architects, environmental specialists and planners.
 * Meet with clients, local authorities and other stakeholders, including site visits.
 * Specify and analyse survey information and constraints for solution development.
 * Develop and appraise options and support the production of engineering solutions and business cases.
 * undertake sustainability reviews, produce low/zero carbon strategies, embodied carbon calculations, carbon implementation plans, materials assessments and sustainability studies.
 * Undertake feasibility studies, preparing engineering sketches and technical reports.
 * Create digital solutions to manipulate, analyse and report on large and complex datasets.
 * Use specialist analysis and design software such as Infodrainage, GIS, AutoCAD/Civil 3D/Bentley MicroStation, ProjectWise, ACC, Navisworks, Infraworks, Plant3D, InfoWorks, Python and Copilot.
Qualifications
 * Studying for (or have already obtained) a degree in Civil Engineering, ideally 2:1 or above.
 * Looking to develop your career in Engineering with a view to obtaining Professional Accreditation.
 * Willingness to learn new skills and deliver high quality work for a range of clients.
 * Good communicator who thrives on working either on your own or in a team environment.
 * Passion for creating a sustainable future for all and shaping a better world.
 * Interest in exploring how digital methods and automation can improve the work we deliver.
