Extend Learning Academies Network (ELAN) is seeking a reliable and motivated site maintenance operative (school caretaker) to join our central estates team, supporting multiple school sites across Weston‑super‑Mare and surrounding areas. This is a hands‑on facilities and maintenance role where you will help ensure our school environments are safe, secure, clean and fully compliant for pupils, staff and visitors. You will carry out general building maintenance, compliance checks, security duties and grounds maintenance across ELAN schools, all located within a few miles of each other. Access to your own transport is essential (business mileage is claimable). Location: Weston‑super‑Mare (multi‑site, local travel required) Contract: Permanent, full-time – 37 hours per week (all year around) Salary: E3: £25,583.00 - £25,989.00 per annum E4: £26,402.00 - £28,141.00 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience) Interview Date: 21 January 2026 Key Responsibilities Carry out planned and reactive maintenance to agreed standards Complete minor repairs and maintenance, including: Painting and decorating Basic plumbing, carpentry Conduct health & safety and compliance checks, including: fire safety, legionella, asbestos awareness Maintain accurate maintenance and compliance records Support cleaning contractors and monitor hygiene and cleanliness standards Manage site security, including unlocking/locking buildings and call‑out response Assist with porterage, furniture moves and small project work Maintain playgrounds, outdoor areas and equipment Why Work for ELAN?
