Within this team, Senior Plant Performance Engineers play a critical role in independently planning and delivering high‐quality plant‐performance analysis across the programme.### **About the Role:**This role is for a Senior Plant Performance Engineer and is expected to be filled by an individual who is able to independently plan and deliver high-quality engineering analysis undertaken by themselves and others within their technical disciplines. This role requires direct liaison with colleagues across various interfacing teams to assist them in understanding and overcoming complex cross-functional design challenges. In some cases, the analysis undertaken to address these challenges will be performed working under established processes and governance. However, the selected individual will be familiar working with high levels of ambiguity, and comfortable defining the appropriate level of analysis fidelity and quality framework for a particular application. Performance engineers are responsible for technical and programme delivery of work packages which could include design of plant architectures, analysis of normal operation and faulted plant conditions, development of analysis models, methods and tools and experimental validation and benchmarking. Senior engineers may be responsible for technical supervision of a small team delivering similar work packages in addition to their own work.### **We’ll Need You To:*** Deliver high‐quality plant‐performance analysis across steady‐state and transient conditions* Analyse thermodynamic performance of the SMR power station* Define, develop and apply performance‐analysis models, methods and tools* Support robust design through probabilistic and uncertainty‐based analysis approaches* Plan and deliver technical work packages to time, cost and quality* Apply governance, quality assurance and validation processes rigorously* Support benchmarking, verification and validation of analysis codes* Communicate complex analysis clearly to technical and non‐technical stakeholders* Collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering and programme teams* Provide technical leadership and support development of capability within the team### **Key Skills Required:**We know there’s no such thing as the ‘perfect’ candidate. If you meet around 75% of the criteria below, we’d love to hear from you:* Strong experience in plant‐performance or thermal‐fluids analysis* Excellent understanding of thermodynamics and fluid‐dynamic processes* Experience using industry‐standard performance or thermal‐hydraulic tools* Experience developing or applying analysis methodologies and models* Understanding of verification, validation and uncertainty quantification* Ability to plan and deliver analysis work packages independently* Strong technical communication and report‐writing skills* Experience working in nuclear or other safety‐critical industries (desirable)* Ability to lead technically and mentor other engineers### **Location:**Hybrid working with one of the following as your primary site: Derby, Manchester or Warrington.### **Salary and Package:**The salary band for this role will be between £50,650 – £66,500 dependent on the skills, values and knowledge you bring.
