Job Overview
Service Care Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority in Hertfordshire for a Group Accountant. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a finance professional to provide expert financial advice, manage budgets, and uphold strong financial governance. Candidates with experience in financial management, budgeting, and team leadership within a local authority are encouraged to apply.
Main Responsibilities
1. Provide financial advice and guidance across various council services, supporting key financial processes to ensure effective financial management. Utilize professional skills to identify, investigate, analyze, and evaluate financial issues and solutions within the management framework.
2. Ensure compliance with financial processes and procedures, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement.
3. Contribute to fostering a strong financial awareness culture within the organization and lead budget setting and monitoring processes.
4. Lead and manage a small team delivering financial services to budget holders and staff within the local authority.
Candidate Requirements
* Strong knowledge of financial management principles with the ability to advise across council services.
* Experience in enforcing financial policies and procedures, with a focus on process improvements.
* Proven ability to lead budget setting, monitoring, and financial reporting to support sound decision-making.
* Ability to proactively investigate financial issues, analyze data, and evaluate solutions.
* Experience in leading and managing a finance team, supporting budget holders, and promoting financial awareness.
