Are you ready to lead in a kitchen where food fuels bright futures? As a Commis Chef specializing in Pastries for Sodexo, you'll work in a luxury college producing pastry products for high-end catering, including banqueting (800-1000), afternoon teas (up to 200), and fine dining. This role offers a chance to work with high-quality ingredients, creating delicious pastries, desserts, and baked goods. What You'll Do:
1. Prepare and produce a range of high-quality pastries, desserts, breads, and baked goods.
2. Ensure all pastry products meet standards of taste, presentation, and consistency.
3. Assist in menu planning and contribute creative ideas for new pastry items.
4. Work efficiently to meet deadlines for banqueting, afternoon tea, and fine dining.
5. Maintain food hygiene and safety standards according to HACCP regulations.
6. Handle and store ingredients properly to maintain quality.
7. Keep workstation clean and organized.
8. Collaborate with the Head Chef and kitchen team for smooth operations.
9. Support and train junior team members as needed.
10. Communicate effectively to ensure workflow efficiency.
11. Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering pastry ingredients.
12. Minimize waste through proper portioning and storage.
What You Bring:
* Experience in a similar pastry role or as a Pastry Chef de Partie in high-volume or fine dining.
* Ability to develop innovative and appealing pastries catering to diverse tastes and dietary needs.
* Passion for pastry and attention to detail.
* Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards.
* Strong teamwork ethic and work ethic.
* Meticulous approach to hygiene and safety (HACCP certification preferred).
* Enthusiasm for cooking and delivering high-quality dining experiences.
* Basic food handling certifications, including NVQ Level 2 and Level 2 Food Safety Certificate.
* At least one year of hands-on pastry experience.
