Widener University is currently seeking an Accountant/Financial Analyst in the Administration & Finance department. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Accountant/Financial Analyst will support the Administration and Finance division by performing the reconciliation of the University’s treasury activities, recording monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries, and collaborating closely with various departments across campus to complete financial reporting functions. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to) : Essential duties: Responsible for oversight, management, and reconciliation of the University’s treasury activity. Communicates information to appropriate departments, researches transactions and variances, and records journal entries Assist in preparing entries, reconciliations and analysis for monthly and annual close. Acts as subject matter expert for various financial statement line items. Reconciles to subledger and provides explanation for variances Preparation of various financial reports and regulatory reporting for the University and its affiliates Identify, propose and collaborate to implement process improvements with the goal of streamlining routine activities Assist with employer related tax reporting and compliance Analyze employer and employee withholding tax liability accounts Assist in generating, printing and mailing annual 1098T’s Problem solving, data query, data extraction Other job-related duties as assigned or directed MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required) : Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field Strong interpersonal skills and be adept at multi-tasking Skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Proficient with Microsoft Excel including advanced functions Must possess excellent organization skills and the ability to work independently and within deadlines.
