Role: Finance Manager

Location: Milton Keynes, MK13 (office based)
Reports to: Managing Directors
Role Overview
We are looking for a hands-on Finance Manager to take full responsibility for the day-to-day financial management of the business. The role is operational and detail-focused, working closely with the Managing Director, commercial team, and site managers to control costs, manage cash flow, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare monthly management accounts, cost reports, and cash flow forecasts
* Manage day-to-day finance operations including purchase ledger, sales ledger, and payroll oversight
* Monitor project costs, margins, and profitability across live contracts
* Maintain accurate work-in-progress (WIP) and support CVR reporting
* Manage applications for payment, valuations, retentions, and final accounts
* Oversee credit control, supplier payments, and subcontractor accounts
* Support tender pricing and review project financials pre- and post-contract
* Ensure compliance with HMRC, VAT (including CIS), and statutory requirements
* Liaise with external accountants for year-end accounts and audits
* Improve financial controls, systems, and reporting processes
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in a hands-on finance role within the UK construction industry
* Strong understanding of construction accounting, WIP, CVRs, and cash flow
* Experience managing VAT, CIS, and subcontractor payments
* Confident working with site managers and commercial teams
* Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting software
Qualifications
* ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified or qualified by experience

* Comfortable working independently and managing day-to-day finance
* Strong communicator with a proactive approach
