Contract Mechanical Design Engineer - Solidworks / Plastic Injection Moulding

Up to £47 per hour, Outside IR35 | 6 month initial contract
We’re currently recruiting for a Contract Mechanical Design Engineer with Solidworks experience to support an established electronics manufacturing business based in Belfast.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer with strong SolidWorks experience and a background in plastic injection moulded product design to join a busy engineering team working on active product development projects.
The role will involve a combination of 2D drawing updates, 3D CAD refinements, and mechanical design work on high-volume manufactured products, including components and enclosures used within electronic devices.
The Role
* Producing and updating 2D engineering drawings
* Carrying out 3D CAD modelling and design refinements
* Supporting the design and development of plastic injection moulded components
* Working closely with senior engineers on live product development projects
* Contributing to designs for products that integrate or house electronic PCB assemblies
Skills Required:
* Strong experience using SolidWorks
* Experience producing both 2D and 3D mechanical designs
* A background in designing plastic / injection moulded products
* Good understanding of GD&T / geometric tolerancing
* Previous experience in a mechanical design engineering role
Desirable:
* Experience designing enclosures or housings for electronic PCBs
* Experience working on electronic or electro-mechanical products
* Background within product development or manufacturing environments
Contract Details
* Location: Belfast
* Working Pattern: Hybrid. 3 to 4 days on site, 1 to 2 days remote
* Rate: Up to £47 per hour, outside IR35
* Contract Length: 6 months initially
