Job Title: In-House Commissioning Manager - M&E Enabling Works (Healthcare Imaging Projects) Location: St Albans (Office-based) Salary: Up to £70,000 per annum About the Role We're recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Commissioning Manager to take charge of the testing and commissioning of all mechanical and electrical (M&E) enabling works in preparation for installing advanced imaging equipment (MRI, CT, X-ray, etc.) in healthcare environments. This pivotal role ensures all M&E infrastructure meets clinical, technical, and regulatory standards prior to specialist equipment installation. Key Responsibilities Lead commissioning of M&E services including HVAC, electrical, medical gas, lighting, and shielding to support imaging facilities. Collaborate closely with M&E contractors to ensure works comply with technical designs and healthcare regulations. Review and approve commissioning documentation such as plans, method statements, and inspection & test plans (ITPs). Coordinate and witness testing, validations, and performance checks following HTM/HBN guidelines and statutory requirements. Provide technical oversight of enabling infrastructure readiness (space, electrical supply, environmental conditions). Work with imaging equipment suppliers and installers to facilitate smooth handover and integration. Monitor commissioning progress, resolve issues, and ensure sign-off on all required documentation. Maintain accurate records including commissioning logs, certificates, and defect reports. Engage with client stakeholders, estates teams, and clinical representatives to align project delivery. Candidate Requirements Degree or equivalent qualification in Building Services Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or similar. Proven commissioning experience within acute healthcare M&E environments. Solid knowledge of NHS technical standards including HTM 06, HTM 08, HBN 06. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Experience reviewing technical documents and managing contractor deliverables.
