Job Overview We have an exciting opportunity for 2 Band 3 Pharmacy Assistants to join our friendly team at Royal Gwent Hospital (RGH) Pharmacy department. We are looking for a conscientious and adaptable individuals with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. To be eligible you must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, hardworking and have a good standard of general education. Computer literacy, accuracy and attention to detail are essential. The pharmacy provides a high-quality medicines service supplying medication to a variety of patients, wards/departments, the majority of which is processed by our automated robot dispensing system. The role will involve dispensing and distribution of pharmaceuticals, restocking and optimisation of pharmacy robotic storage and supporting the wider pharmacy team in providing a medicines management service. Main duties of the job To carry out the accurate dispensing and distribution of pharmaceuticals to patients, wards, departments, hospitals and clinics served by Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB). To assist in the delivery of a near patient medicines management service to inpatients admitted to wards on ABUHB hospital sites. To carry out the accurate distribution of stock pharmaceuticals, receipt of new stock into the department, the preparation of pharmaceuticals and the accurate supply of basic non pharmaceutical information to clients. To use the pharmacy and other computer systems in order to carry out all tasks in an accurate and efficient manner. Experience Essential criteria Working experience in Pharmacy Desirable criteria Recent experience in job providing a service/supply function Skills Essential criteria Organisational abilities Able to undertake simple arithmetical calculations without a calculator Good verbal and written communication skills Computer literate Desirable criteria Ability to speak Welsh Basic knowledge of the functions of the NHS Qualifications Essential criteria Good standard of Secondary Education Vocational/NVQ level 3 or equivalent training to the General Pharmaceutical Council's requirements or willing to undertake Desirable criteria GCSE at C grade or above in Maths, English and science or equivalent qualifications Current knowledge of hospital pharmacy practice
