Principal Structural Design Engineer, Milton Keynes
RPS are currently seeking an experienced Principal Structural Design Engineer to join our progressive business within the Structures team, servicing clients in London, Milton Keynes, and across the Midlands. RPS Design Division delivers projects across sectors including residential housing, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, manufacturing, data centres, and energy. We focus on balancing sustainability, materiality, cost, and constructability, with digitalisation at the core of our delivery model.
What you’ll be doing:
This role offers career progression for a Structural Engineer involved in residential foundation and superstructure projects, including low and medium rise housing and commercial developments.
Duties Include:
* Assist senior management in leading the structural engineering team
* Manage projects and project teams independently
* Handle financial responsibilities for your projects
* Prepare fee quotations and manage invoicing
* Manage staff and collaborate with other consultants
* Develop engineering team members
* Engage with stakeholders and clients onsite
* Conduct structural surveys, investigations, and repairs for structures affected by issues such as fires or foundation problems
Who we’re looking for:
You should have a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, ideally be chartered with ICE, IStructE, or equivalent, or be working towards it. Additionally, you will:
* Be experienced in designing foundations, masonry, concrete, steel, and timber structures following Eurocodes
* Have residential market experience, including traditional and framed structures
* Possess commercial awareness, including financial management and client development
* Be experienced in structural investigations for low-rise and medium-rise residential and commercial properties
* Preferably have experience with the Building Safety Act investigations and reporting
* Be familiar with Tekla (Tekla Designer and Tedds), AutoCAD, and Revit
* Demonstrate leadership skills and management experience
* Be proactive, autonomous, and innovative
