Description Job Title: Building Surveyor Location: Gosport Town Hall Salary: £34,314 to £37,938 Contract: Full-time, Permanent We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Building Surveyor to join our dedicated Property Services team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and enhancing our diverse property portfolio, including over 3,000 residential properties and various commercial and non-housing assets. About the Role Reporting to the Senior Building Surveyor, you will be based at Gosport Town Hall and will carry out a wide range of professional surveying duties. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring timely and high-quality repairs, property improvements, and compliance across our asset base. Your responsibilities will include: Surveying housing stock and corporate properties to identify necessary repairs or improvements Preparing specifications of work and managing repair contracts and small-scale projects Maintaining accurate stock condition data Diagnosing building defects, proposing effective solutions, and overseeing remedial works Procuring and managing contractors in line with public procurement regulations and contracts (JCT/NEC) Managing delegated project budgets, ensuring value for money and financial accountability Liaising with residents, leaseholders, staff, councillors, and stakeholders to ensure clear communication and excellent customer service What We’re Looking For: We’re looking for a motivated and adaptable surveyor with excellent technical knowledge and a collaborative mindset. You should be a confident communicator who can work both independently and as part of a team. Essential Criteria: Degree or HNC in Building Surveying or a construction-related discipline Strong practical experience in property surveying within a repairs/maintenance environment In-depth knowledge of building construction, pathology, and relevant legislation (e.g. Building Regs, Planning Law, CDM, Party Wall Act, etc.) Familiarity with contract management (JCT/NEC) and public procurement procedures Health and safety expertise, including CDM regulations and asbestos legislation Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD (or equivalent), and property management software Financial awareness and experience with cost control, estimating, and budget management Excellent organisational, written, and verbal communication skills Customer-focused approach with the ability to manage expectations and build effective relationships Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential car user allowance provided) Why Join Us?
