Engineering Project Manager - Hardware
A critical functional head within Instron’s Dynamic Systems unit, working across the business to meet growth and profitability goals through innovation projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead a multi‑disciplinary Hardware team supporting the execution of the Dynamic Systems new product roadmap.
* Support the Engineering Director in setting performance objectives focused on program goals, roadmap delivery, and strategy.
* Participate in talent analysis, identify development opportunities, and drive action plans for skill gaps.
* Provide onboarding, performance management, guidance, and feedback to facilitate team development.
* Collaborate with other managers to ensure consistency in project execution and promote inclusive practices.
* Champion safer working practices and H&S procedures, proactive risk management, and training.
* Oversee project life‑cycle management from planning to delivery: planning, resource allocation, progress monitoring, stakeholder communication, risk mitigation.
* Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and participate in continuous improvement.
Competencies and Experience
* Experience leading full‑cycle new product development for multiple projects and product lines.
* Excellent project‑management skills, ability to lead and motivate teams.
* Strong understanding of complex project dependencies and impact of changes.
* Technical expertise with ability to mentor and develop technical and managerial competencies.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to present to senior decision‑makers.
* Risk identification, assessment, and mitigation capability.
Qualifications
* Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with relevant experience.
* Professional recognition: Chartered member of IMECHE, Project Management qualification, or similar.
