You will develop and offer a creative range of services for children and their families to meet identified needs, such as undertaking direct work and purposeful interventions with children, young people, parents/carers, families, and groups, as well as delivering support packages or specific programmes.
Services will be provided in partnership with families, aiming to support them in making positive changes and enabling children and young people to reach their full potential.
You will need to establish effective working relationships with colleagues within Children’s Social Care, Foster Carers, and other statutory and voluntary agencies, such as staff from health and education, to provide an integrated service.
Key Skills
1. Good communication and interpersonal skills: Ability to organise and present information clearly, concisely, and accurately in ways that promote understanding, both verbally and in writing. This includes persuading others of the need to take specific actions and gaining the trust of service users.
2. Analytical skills: Ability to interpret information to manage casework with children/young people and their families, assessing needs, setting objectives, and reviewing progress.
3. Engagement and intervention skills: Ability to work in partnership with children/young people, families, and external agencies to effect positive and lasting change. Focus on empowering approaches, using strengths and resources, and responding flexibly to diverse groups while maintaining confidentiality.
4. Workload management: Ability to prioritise and manage own workload, coordinate tasks to meet deadlines, and work towards clear goals. Reflect on practice and take responsibility for professional development.
5. Record keeping: Ability to maintain accurate records and produce reports and correspondence for various audiences, including meetings, conferences, court panels, and other agencies.
6. IT skills: Sound and accurate IT skills, including report writing, record maintenance, confidentiality, and information protection.
