We are now looking for an Operations Team Manager to support the management and running of the Wet Press Department at our Ramsbottom site.
What’s the role?
You will work closely with the Operations Manager to deliver the Manufacturing Leadership Plan, using strong planning, organisation and people management skills to lead the Manufacturing team. You will be accountable for delivering production plans and service levels within quality, safety and cost targets, while communicating clearly through team briefings, handovers and toolbox talks to create a proactive, engaged culture.
You will drive maximum performance from your team, plant and equipment, ensuring KPIs, customer requirements and legislative standards are met or exceeded. This includes maximising OEE and throughput, deploying labour effectively, and working with Production Planning to deliver cost-effective schedules. Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards will underpin everything you do, with a strong focus on compliance and best practice.
You will continuously challenge and improve manufacturing processes, identifying and delivering continuous improvement opportunities. You will coach and develop your direct reports through performance management and development planning, support positive employee relations alongside the senior leadership team, manage first-line disciplinary matters when required, and deputise for the Operations Manager as needed.
What are we looking for?
1. IOSH Managing Safely / NEBOSH General Certificate and other relevant qualifications ILM, Lean Six Sigma desirable.
2. Experience of operating in a medium/large manufacturing site with responsibility for a team of 10 or more employees.
3. Ideally, some experience of operating in a traditional employee relations climate/heavily unionised environment.
4. A knowledge & understanding of Overall Equipment effectiveness (OEE).
5. Some experience of implementing continuous improvement/lean manufacturing techniques DMAIC, would be an advantage.
6. Experience of maximising the potential of others including development and performance management. Demonstrable experience of driving and improving site performance
