Principal Engineer - Product Safety
Location: Scotstoun (1-2 days a week on site)
Duration: 12 months
Rate: £60 per hour PAYE or £81.05 per hour Umbrella
You will be a competent professional who can lead / influence the approach product safety strategy, articulate safety case arguments and risk control sufficiency.
You'll facilitate the implementation of relevant Product Safety processes and production of deliverables and maintain the SMARTer™ Hazard Log, performing updates as requested by the safety team and providing statistics as required by management.
Responsibilities
Provide support to the Function TA teams with the management of the hazards, risks and associated mitigations and contribute to the development of the hazard log and the maturity of information contained within.
Responsible for product safety assessment against major subsystems or key complex technologies.
Verify the quality of submissions to the Hazard Log.
Produce monthly statistics on the contents of the Hazard Log.
Organise and facilitate HAZIDs and review meetings and contribute to other HAZIDs when required.
Work with the TA teams and embedded Safety Engineers in collating adequate PS related evidence to support the safety case and acceptance via the Requirements and Acceptance Team.
Accountable for the execution of PS techniques.
Creation of PSMP where necessary.
Creation of PS artefacts, including SDSA / SCR (safety argument and assurance).
Organisation, facilitation and recording of workshops, meetings etc in cooperation with technical authorities.
Monthly metric reporting.
Proven Ability / Key Skills
Knowledge of safety management processes and techniques.
Proven ability working in more than one phase of the Life Cycle Management (LCM) framework, with sufficient knowledge of the total LCM to enable a good understanding of adjacent phases and through life engineering issues.
Awareness of customer (Ship/ System Safety) standards such as DSA-02, JSP430, Def. Stan 00-56, MilStn 882E, and BS EN 61508.
Familiar with the Product Safety Management Framework.
