Are you an experienced and compassionate Social Worker ready to step into an Advanced Practitioner role? Join a high-impact Safe and Supported Team in the North East, where you'll lead complex work, drive quality practice, and make a real difference in the lives of children and families.
About the Role
In this key role, you’ll deliver high-quality, relationship-based practice with children and families who are vulnerable or in crisis. You’ll support children in need, those at risk of harm, or in care, using strength-based, trauma-informed approaches.
This is a hybrid role, offering flexibility alongside a commitment to collaborative, face-to-face work within the local authority setting.
As an Advanced Practitioner, you’ll:
1. Carry out comprehensive assessments of need, risk, and safety
2. Develop and implement robust, person-centred care plans
3. Lead work across Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and Children Looked After (CLA)
4. Engage children, families, and professionals to build trust and sustainable support plans
5. Provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced colleagues or students
6. Maintain detailed, high-quality records and prepare reports for decision-making and court where necessary
What We’re Looking For
We're seeking someone who brings both experience and leadership to their practice. The ideal candidate will be:
7. Qualified in Social Work (Degree, DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent)
8. Registered with Social Work England
9. 4+ years post-qualified, with significant experience in children’s services
10. Skilled in risk assessment, care planning, and safeguarding interventions
11. Confident working in a multi-agency setting
12. Emotionally resilient and reflective in their approach
13. An excellent communicator and advocate for children and families
14. Familiar with relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and local authority procedures
